Dean Muhsin, either as one half of production act Bearweasel or under his own name, has carved out a rock solid reputation within house music over the past 15 years.
A music industry professional, having worked for the legendary Kingsize imprint before it’s demise as well as his world renowned Dispersion PR company, he surrounds himself with electronic music constantly. This obsessive nature towards music informs his DJ sets hugely, unearthing forgotten gems alongside new talents to create sets which are unmistakably individual. Deep, hypnotic house and a smattering of techno are the words he uses to describe himself and they’re pretty accurate. His studio work alongside Louisa Page (as Bearweasel) treads a similar dubby, mesmerising path too, as their releases and remixes for the likes of Supernature, Tsuba, VIVa, murmur, 8-bit, Soma and Classic clearly show.
2009 saw Dean’s DJ diary bloom after a string of much-lauded musical output, with a residency at Steve Lawler’s VIVa (where he provides a deft, deep house warm up for the heavier DJs) and gigs across the world from Amsterdam’s Dance Valley festival to New York’s intimate Straanjur party all playing host to the British artists sets. The press haven’t exactly damaged matters either, with the likes of DJ Mag, De:Bug, Mixmag, IDJ, Groove and Resident Advisor all covering his exploits from studio to booth.
2010 will see new output for Tsuba, VIVa and Supernature as well as some interesting new projects yet to be confirmed.
